Behave with coworkers |
Those we associate with in the office or at work are our colleagues. We
have to stay with them for a long time in search of livelihood. So without a
good relationship with them, career will be very difficult. Islam has
formulated a very sophisticated policy in this regard as well. Allah the
Almighty says about this in the Holy Quran.
Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.
(Surah
An-Nisaa 4:36)
1. The importance of good behavior of superior colleagues with
subordinate colleagues
A) The superior
colleague is the guardian of the subordinates
Narrated `Abdullah: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said,
"Everyone of you is a guardian and is responsible for his charges. The
ruler who has authority over people, is a guardian and is responsible for them,
a man is a guardian of his family and is responsible for them; a woman is a
guardian of her husband's house and children and is responsible for them; a
slave ('Abu) is a guardian of his master's property and is responsible for it;
so all of you are guardians and are responsible for your charges."

colleague is the trustee of the subordinates

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr who said: I said to
the Prophet (ﷺ): Messenger of Allah, will you not
appoint me to a public office? He stroked my shoulder with his hand and said:
Abu Dharr, you are weak and authority is a trust. and on the Day of judgment it
is a cause of humiliation and repentance except for one who fulfils its
obligations and (properly) discharges the duties attendant thereon.

It has been reported on the authority of Abd al-Rahman b. Shumasa who said: I came to A'isha to inquire something from her. She said: From which people are you? I said: I am from the people of Egypt. She said: What was the behavior of your governor towards you in this war of yours? I said: We did not experience anything bad from him. If the camel of a man from us died, he would bestow on him a camel. If any one of us lost his slave, he would give him a slave. If anybody was in need of the basic necessities of life, he would provide them with provisions. She said: Behold! the treatment that was meted out to my brother, Muhammad b. Abu Bakr, does not prevent me from telling you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He said in this house of mine: O God, who (happens to) acquire some kind of control over the affairs of my people and is hard upon them-be You hard upon him, and who (happens to) acquire some kind of control over the affairs of my people and is kind to them-be You kind to him.

It has been narrated on the authority of 'Auf b. Malik that the Messenger
of Allah (ﷺ)
said: The best of your rulers are those whom you love and who love you, who
invoke God's blessings upon you and you invoke His blessings upon them. And the
worst of your rulers are those whom you hate and who hate you and whom you
curse and who curse you. It was asked (by those present): Shouldn't we
overthrow them with the help of the sword? He said: No, as long as they
establish prayer among you. If you then find anything detestable in them. You
should hate their administration, but do not withdraw yourselves from their
obedience.

And those who have responded to their lord and established prayer and
whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We
have provided them, they spend.

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When
Allah has a good purpose for a ruler, He appoints for him a sincere minister
who reminds him if he forgets and helps him if he remembers; but when Allah has

authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and
the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the
best [way] and best in result.

The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers.
And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.

And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the
faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want
in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference
over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected
from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.
